The tone of the author is in mystery to some actions and events, otherwise everything goes on smoothly, sometimes complicated and easy to understand the authors attitude.

2. Is the story humorous or tragic or frightening? Does the author want you to laugh or cry, to feel happy or sad, to experience anger or fear?
The story is mostly frightening plus with mystery, and the author in this story wants me to actually experience some fear of how is it to reach a place that no one ever been there because of the scare to die and how John's bravery lead his way there.  

3. What is the author's attitude toward characters or the narrator? Does the author like or dislike, trust or mistrust the characters or the narrator?
The authors attitude toward the characters is good but to John the narrator as well was pointing to do the best and shows clearly that he is what keeps the story running. The author like and trust the characters and narrator.

1.What are some of the symbols in the story?
Some of the symbols in the story in the place which was the setting, symbolize as United States. Also the Place of the Gods that symbolize as New York City, and the Gods that are actually real humans.

2. Are there any objects which seem to have a symbolic meaning? What are their meanings?
The objects is the Gods itself that is actually humans like president, is shows how people didn't anything about after the war that occurred back then and how they came to know of the truth.

3. Do any people act as symbols in the story? What do they represent?
In this story no people acted as any symbols, just death Gods that acted as human beings.

4. Do aspects of the story's setting seem symbolic? In what way?
Yes the story setting is symbolic to the country of United States in the place near New York and New York itself after the war that occurred.

5. Is one symbol used throughout the story or do the symbols change?
There are some symbols along the way of the story making the reader more interested of what the author is talking about. So in this case there is more than one symbols throughout the story.
